    the kampung feeling

this is my dad's lily. and the plant is huge, it's almost as the height as myself and i'm no small woman.

this and some other plants that my parents planted around the house including lots of orchis, roses, fruits trees like mangoes, kuinin, ciku, jambu, dragonfruits, emong other.

my parents is so in love with their plants. i still remember my mum used to tell me that when they still lives in penggawa barat barrack back in the 70s, they used to plant lots of orchids and roses.

as my dad was a navy, each time he comes back from sailing, he would bring empty bottles of liquors that was consumed by his suporiors and put some water in it, let it overnight before using it to water the plants. the effect, voila the orchids and roses blooms like crazy or rather drunk!

now when they are staying in kampung, they have all the land they wanted to plant trees and flowers. ofcourse no more empty bottles of hard liquor, but it still blooms when time comes.

and once in a while whenever i comes back for holiday, the effects of these trees are calming, though they are still in the early stage, not yet giving shades to the overall hot environment.

as if time stood still with no busy roads, traffic jams or loud noise that has been the heartbeat of kl and shah alam.

although jitra is my adopted kampung (i was born in jb, brought up in jasin and further my study in penang), but perhaps it's not too bad to give it a try.

    missing link...

another boring day in the court, another witness. today, my life is pretty boring. even what the witness has testified are boring. that is what you get when the victim is a man, the accused is also a man. no sex stories no excitement.

funny, as even at this age, sex still sell.

anyway, as boring my life today, i can't help noticing some missing links in the witnesses' stories. two days ago a witness didn't mention that there were other people with her and her children prior to the snatch theft incident way back in 2004. but today when the police officer's taking the stand today, the story somehow differ.

well it bound to be, really, i'm not saying the first witness lied, but more like miscommunications, lack command of language. in short, she just couldn't understand what the lawyer and the dpp are trying to say. and in the end her trail of thoughts just snapped.

i think that is the case, every time. witnesses just could understand what the legal officers are trying to say. and in the end, they just couldn't say what they are supposed to say. to make matters worst, some lawyers just have minimal command of bahasa melayu or even the witnesses. in the end, some things were not said properly, some lawyers gets tounge lashing, some witnesses cried or confused, and some dpp just gets frustrated.

    wet and rainy morning

yep, it was wet and rainy morning, today and the trafic was slow (snail slow mind you) as everybody is trying to get to work. when i heard the weather forecast this morning while ironing my clothes, i was, like duh! well, i can see it is raining outside without having some people who were stuck in the studio to tell me that.

i mean, weather forecast is supposed to be before the actual thing happened isn't it? what's the use of the forecast if the thing is actually happening outside of your home right when you are listening to the forecast?

anyway, lazy as i am, and knowing i will be made waiting for some minister yet again this morning, i drove to work. and as anticipated, the traffic was slow. as i was taking a turn near puchong intan, i saw something was sticking on the boot of a car in front of mine. and i was, whoa, pity that guy, he has to fork out some money to take care the damage, whaever that thing did to his car.

then i saw it, it was a soaking wet and unfit for reading, newspaper! maybe in the rush of getting to work in time, the poor chap forgot about his newspaper and drove off with is taking a soak in the shower.

i bet by the time he arrived in his office, the newspaper is only fit to be chucked in the bin.

that is why you need the forecast before it rains.

    world journalist day

yeah, last friday was world journalist day. unlike other celebrated days (labour day, teacher's day, nurses day) it went by unnoticed.

a friend who received my sms wishing her happy world journalist day was puzzled. is there such a day, she asked me. i don't even know, she said.

i came to know about the day when i was doing my industrial training in jb. it was in may 1998 (wow so long ago!) and a hotel sent flowers to the office with a card wishing the journalists - world journalist day.

this time around, no cakes, or flower for us. not even a wish from those people we worked with. it's not that we want to be celebrated anyway, heck, though it might sounds glamourous, journalists are the least likeable people in malaysia.

some people in the society despised journalists, and have this general idea that journalists are group of people who likes to put their noses into other people matter, personal or otherwise.

unfortunately, though it is true to some level, the same people are the one who provide the population with 'juicy news'. some journalists were despised simply because they works in certain unfavourable newspapers or news agencies.

however, not many people knew or realised, were killed, maimed or injured simply doing their work and doing things that they believed. according to comittee to protect journalist (cpj)'s website (www.cpj.org), up till today, 13 journalist died in their course of duty, and one journalist is missing.

it's a lonely job, really. but someone has got to do it. for all my journalist friends be it in writing or in graphic, thank God we are still alive. happy world journalist day

    counting the days

another two more days to go then i'm officially 30. can't wait or can't face, well that is the best i can say on how i'm feeling about the age these days. a colleague was surprised when i told him i'll be turning 30 on friday. he said i looked too young to be 30. is that so? maybe. but i'm counting anyway....

    entry on May 7.....

1st i was celebrated a few hours before the actual date, after a futsal game at the futsal place! fancy cutting your cake while others playing futsal at the nearby courts and eating it out of a flimsy napkins, with your friends. hehehe.

i promised myself it should be a quiet one, and treu to my own words, i didn't even buy cake for myself, not even celebration at home, but i think i need to buy one cause my nephew already asked me (on my birthday) makcik, where is the birthday cake?

but it was a lucky day for me nonetheless, i went out for dinner with one of my best friend and we end up watching free movie! we were at 1-utama new wing, planning to check out the GSC (never been there-the cinema I mean) and as we ascended the floor, one man wearing a red cap approched us and waved two cards.

"you want free movies tickets" and I was stumped! luckily, shikin, my bestfriend said yes and off we go to watch m:i3. apparently, that guy were given with the free tickets by a lady who worked with ge and he gave it to us, for no reason given. anyway, the movies was fun.

the next day, one colleague, muzliza came up to alamanda and gave me a treat as well. so much for a quiet birthday!

    let me introduce myself...

let me introduce myself. i'm a journalist by profession, thinker by mood, dreamer by fancy. though i love reading, writing is a passion. the trouble is, i only write for newspaper, mostly. but all my thoughts only written in my head. you can call me crazy, kuku in the head, if you want, but someone did say i'm sexy with my imaginations.

i told someone before, blogging, leaving traces of your toughts be it true or false, be it you are pretending or not, is a direct access to one's soul. blogging, whether it is via writing or photoblogging, tells people of what you were thinking when you wrote the blog, commenting on the blog or when you take pictures.

but it's okay, it't not bad to leave traces of your soul, afterall we are all human beings. and as such i too realised, i might and will  be leaving traces of my own soul here for everybody to see. everybody who can see.

forgive me for not using capitals at the beginning of my sentences or at the appropriate places. it is just me, if you know what i mean.
